NZSN Pay Equity Report 2026 - feedback

  • 24 March 2026

Kia Ora Koutou,

As I sit on my couch well past 10pm on a school night sending various comms, I thought it would be a good idea to create a blog page for our NZSN Pay Equity Report released this evening.

The report has taken many months of work, after hours, weekends, full days in classrooms with A1 post it notes and every single nurses responses laid out everywhere while we grouped and themed and rehashed how we would compile the report.

Some days it felt we would never make it. :D Especially with eye surgery for our chief editor, and covid for our chief writer in the mix. Nevertheless, we are so stoked to cross this next milestone in what has been a 2+year journey of fighting for better pay for School Nurses.

We would love to hear your thoughts on the report - what surprised you, what saddened you, what you think are the next priorities.

Leaving a comment below will be public, if you would prefer to tell us privately, you are always welcome to email us - nzschoolnurses@gmail.com

(Haven't read the report yet and wondering where to find it? Click here).

Kia ora team. Your email arrived at such a pivotal moment for me, due to meet with managers and a Te Whatu Ora representative in less than 2 hours, I had that time to fill myself up with the findings in the report. To read the words and experiences of colleagues around the Motu and head into that kōrero feeling already 'seen' for the mahi we do, and supported by the work we are all doing. Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou! An extensive, thoughtful and insightful report. Hopeful and supportive.
