Real Skills Plus

  • 30 January 2020

Real Skills Plus ICAMH/AOD is a competency framework that describes the knowledge and skills necessary to work with infants, children and young people experiencing mental health and/or alcohol and other drug (AOD) concerns.

This framework is particularly suited for school nurses. It enables you to assess your skills and knowledge when working with young people who may have a mental health  or AOD concern. It identifies your areas of strength and areas for ongoing development.

Individuals and services can complete Real Skills Plus assessments online and receive a report describing areas of strength and areas for ongoing development. The assessment takes about 15-20 minutes to complete and is a great addition to your School Nursing portfolio, and gives you useful feedback on how you could improve your mental health assessment skills with links on where to access such training.

To complete Real Skills Plus online assessment, please go to realskills.werryworkforce.org and create an account. Please enter your team name as 'School Nurse'. This will collate all the online assessments taken by school nurses and inform future workforce development planning.
